Mind Without Fear

15 July 2011, Last updated: November 2019

This poem was a part of my English course book in Class 10. My grandfather explained the depth of every line in this poem and we studied this poem for nearly 3 days. This poem had a great influence in my life and played a crucial role in shaping my thoughts and perception of the world. At some point in time, I will expand this blog post to include more details.

Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high;
Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been broken up
into fragments by narrow domestic walls;
Where words come out from the depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason
has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of dead habit;
Where the mind is led forward by thee into ever-widening thought and action --
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.
